The Undying Courts
The Fae did not die when humanity stopped believing in them — they retreated. Behind the thin places: old forests, fog-filled valleys, the space between 3am and dawn. They have been waiting with the patience of creatures who do not experience time as loss, watching for the conditions that will make their return welcome.
The Tithing
The old bargains remain in force. Every hundred years the tithe is paid — seven humans of extraordinary sensitivity are called across the veil, not by force but by a longing so precisely calibrated to their specific frequency that they cannot distinguish it from their own desire. They go willingly. They are not always returned.
The Courts of Summer and Winter
The Courts are not seasonal — they are metaphysical orientations. Summer Court operates on the principle of abundance: give everything, hold nothing, burn bright until the burning is done. Winter Court operates on the principle of preservation: keep the essential, sacrifice the peripheral, survive until the warmth is deserved.
